Chipstead Sailing Club

Further to our earlier message of 16th March, we have taken note of the updated advice from H.M.Government and the RYA. Our objective in line with H.M.Government advice is to protect the health of Club members and to help limit the spread of Coronavirus by limiting members congregating together and respecting a two metre separation distance where possible.

The remaining Chiller Series races scheduled for Sunday 22nd March will take place. We have confirmed with the Duty Team that they are prepared to run the races. Only one member of the team will be allowed in the Race Box, and the other AOD/s will need to be positioned outside. Those in patrol boats will maintain a good distance between themselves. The further precautions around regular hand washing should be practised by all members present.

The Kitchen (including food, teas and coffees) and Bar will NOT be open in the Clubhouse.

Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th March: In line with our current programme, the Clubhouse including the Changing Rooms will NOT be open.

The Summer Series is due to start on Saturday 4th April. The General Committee will be considering whether it is feasible to run the Race Programme in the current format, in a revised format or whether it will need to be suspended for a period. Input will be sought from others in the Club in relation to the format of the Junior Saturday Club, especially in the light of the closure of schools. We are also considering whether it will be necessary to close part or all of the Clubhouse facilities.

We shall, of course, take into account any further advice received in the meantime from H.M.Government and the RYA and will communicate further with Club members in the near future.

Radio Sailing will receive a separate communication from their Class Captain.

Chipstead Sailing Club sincerely regrets the current uncertainty but is obliged to place the health of all its members as its first priority. All members should consider their and others’ health and follow H.M.Government guidance in relation to self-isolation.

The Lake will remain open for Social Sailing, until further notice, although the Clubhouse and Changing Rooms may not be available for members’ use.
