Paddle Boarding Class, at Chipstead Sailing Club.

Membership Summary:

  1. Paddleboarding (“PB”) membership at CSC is now available for Family member subscription of £62 (or see current subscription rate) per annum. There will be no joining fee.
  2. A CSC Full family member may also use their paddle board or sit on kayak (“SOK”) at no additional cost but only within the directed times below.
  3. A CSC Family Junior member may also use a paddleboard or sit on kayak (“SOK”) at no additional cost but only within the directed times below.
  4. All Paddleboarders or SOK users under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present at the Club at all times when paddleboarding or SOK use is being undertaken. The parent or guardian is responsible for supervising their child whilst all activities are being undertaken, including, but not limited to: social paddles, supervised sessions, other events, and whilst on the shore or pontoons.
  5. Children under the age of 12 must have a parent or guardian on the water with them at all times, in a maximum ratio of 2 children to 1 adult.
  6. Membership can be obtained online at https://webcollect.org.uk/chipsteadsc
  7. No duties will be required for Paddleboarding members however the club welcomes volunteers to assist in the operation of the club. There is an option within the membership sign-on procedure to volunteer.
  8. No voting rights will be vested in PB members.
  9. As a PB member you will be entitled to use the club’s bar, galley, toilets, showers and join in social events at the club.
  10. A club key giving access to the car parks and foreshore ramp barrier will be available for a refundable fee of £5.00. No cars are to be parked on the foreshore.
  11. Membership of the club is conditional upon acceptance of the club’s rules and bylaws which can be viewed online at http://chipsteadsc.org.uk (refer especially to our Bylaws 2 and 5).
  12. Membership will start from 1st January in any year and be valid for a year.
  13. New PB or SOK members are required to attend a brief induction with the class captain to cover the rules and regulations, a lake orientation, and a safety briefing.
  14. To Paddle or SOK outside of organised sessions, which shall include Social Paddles, lessons, and other supervised sessions, members must have suitable experience and competence; or the BSUPA “Ready to Ride” qualification; or equivalent qualification, to be confirmed by the class captain.
  15. A PB member or SOK user will be required to wear a buoyancy aid at all times on the water or on the pontoons and comply with Club Bylaw 11.
  16. Paddle boarders will become a separate class at the club.
  17. Members of the Paddleboarding class at CSC including those paddleboarding or SOK using under paragraphs 2 and 3 above must register as individual members of the British Canoe Association (“BCA”) and pay the BCA annual affiliation fee, or as an alternative have suitable insurance that meets the requirements of Club Bylaw 5.
  18. A Paddle Boarder member or SOK user may paddle on the days and at the times shown in the attached Schedule and at other such times as are subject to agreement with the Sailing Secretary. Any paddle boarding or SOK use outside the initially agreed programme for PB will first be discussed by, and require the approval of, the Sailing Committee. Paddleboarders and SOK users must keep clear of other lake users at times of shared occupancy of the Lake. Paddleboarding or SOK use will not be permitted during the annual Chipmates Summer camp nor during training courses, either sail or power, nor when Club Open Meetings are scheduled, nor at such other times as the Sailing Secretary may notify to the Paddleboarding class captain.
  19. Members of the Paddleboarding class and SOK users are recommended for safety reasons not to paddle in winds of over a force 5.
  20. A PB member or SOK user will be required to have a leash attached to your board when afloat. This will keep you attached to your board and significantly keep you visible.
  21. It must be noted that paddle boarders and SOK users are obliged at all times to keep 20m clear of all sailing boats and fishing persons.
  22. Overall, we want to ensure that paddle boarders and SOK users can enjoy the lake safely along with all other water users.
