DF 95 Invicta Trophy Open Race Meeting

Chipstead SC Radio Sailing 9th March 2019

A fleet of 25 yachts took part in the meeting which was sailed in very windy conditions with up to 40 knots of wind in gusts with a continual wind force of 20-29 knots. Needless to say the NoA rig very quickly became No C rig which was the rig used throughout the meet.

With this type of wind there were a few rig failures and boats which got out of control had to be rescued by the battery powered dinghy which had trouble getting the rescues done in quick time because of the lack of engine power.

Apart from the foregoing it was a very good day with good racing in both A and B fleets. The last race of the day was for both A&B fleets with 14 boats taking part

A welcome break at lunchtime was extended to allow the main part of the gale to blow through and the Chilli and Cream cake to be enjoyed in the peace and quiet of the club house.

Prize giving was done in the club house after the meeting with Peter Crisp our Race officer of the Day presenting the Invicta Trophy to Buzz Colman for overall winner and the Best in club Trophy to Mike Keyte who finished a very good 4th Place overall. Tea & Cake was again served to everyone.
