As a club member with some insight into the workings of our General Committee, I would like to give you a small insight into the work they have put into keeping our lovely club afloat. Safely working along Government and RYA Guidelines and keeping in mind Local restrictions.
The Committee in general have spent so many hours and days researching through the ever changing guidelines. Spending hours of their valuable time in extra meetings. Ordering posters. Attaching locks etc etc. Discussing the best format for Lockdown , Easing , Opening up and beyond. To my mind they have been amazing and I certainly would like to extend my appreciation and thanks. It would have brought down lesser mortals.
They certainly stood by the old adage - Stay calm and carry on!
An analysis of the Safety Risks On and Off the Water at the club has been produced and is available for downloading here.
A new generation of inspirational sailors were recognised in the RYA Musto Regional Youth Awards, presented at the RYA Dinghy Show on March 1.
The awards celebrate the achievements of young people in the sport whether it’s on the racecourse, volunteering, instructing, coaching or overcoming adversity. They were presented to seven of the 11 regional winners by RYA Chair, Chris Preston, alongside Olympic champion Hannah Mills and her world championship-winning crew Eilidh McIntyre.
Saturday was a dull overcast day starting with a light wind strengthening to strong by Lunchtime
22 sailors turned out for the race from various clubs, Eastbourne MYC, Coalhouse Fort MYC, Alton RSC, Medway RSC, LMYC, Guildford MYC, Woking RSC and Chipstead SC Radio Sailing.
