Comet Dinghy Class
The Comet Class dinghy is a single handed, light, easily transportable and is launchable by one person.
Being constructed from GRP the Comet requires low maintenance and offers challenging performance but most of all is One Design. The Comet is fast but surprisingly forgiving. Plenty of sail area for exciting sailing and amazing light wind performance but easily reefed for beginners. Extremely comfortable to sail with a roomy cockpit.
The Comet is a single crew boat which means you are not dependent on others to sail when you want and has been around for over 30 years and is a favourite.
The Comet fleet at Chipstead has over forty boats and members and is one of the largest fleets in England. If you are totally new then an easy Saturday morning course managed by experienced sailors will get you started. Once ready you can borrow our club boat. In time you may choose to buy your own boat and you can do so for a very modest £500 or so.
Our friendly Comet Class sailors range from total beginners to the very proficient.
